This work
started with a mistake my printer made, spitting out a bunch of formatting
codes. I watercolored the page, scanned it into my PC, brought it into PhotoShop
and flipped it two ways into three layers. The fourth and final layer is a
scan of a drawing I made last summer of one of the ovens at Buchenwald, a
concentration camp outside of Weimar, Germany. The intensity of the watercolors
shows my anger, sorrow and horror at the thought of some of my kinsmen being
sentenced to such an awful end, only for being Jewish.
